Everyone needs a little help staying on time now and again. When you spend all day in front of a computer with internet access, it can be especially important, given the abundance of distractions at hand. Here is a collection of apps, scripts, and utilities to help remind you what it is you’re actually supposed to be doing.

2Do – This iPhone app was designed to work around your fingers. 2Do surrounds you with your projects and actions, grouped the way you like them, sorted the way you need them and reminding you at the time you want them done.

30 Boxes – A web based calendar solution with a good list feature.

Bla Bla List – A fast, simple to-do list product built on the RIFE open-source Java web application framework. It offers the basic to-do list features with an easy-to-use interface, but new lists begin as an annoyingly small pop-up window.

  • Clavier+ – this handy utility allows users to create keyboard shortcuts using any key combination, including the Windows key. The shortcuts can be used to launch programs or paste in frequently used text.
  • Google Code University – a collection of tutorials on languages like Python, Java and Go for relative beginners.
  • Mappiness – a free iPhone app that allows you to keep track of your happiness. It’s also a research tool for London School of Economics scholars Susana Mourato and George MacKerron, who are using it to learn “how people’s feelings are affected by features of their current environment—things like air pollution, noise, and green spaces.”
  • Photovisi – a free and easy to use online tool to create photo collages. Select one of the many collage templates, add your photos and then customize by dragging items around.

  • Roomle – this online tool allows users to draw up floor plans in order to plan how to lay out a room prior to moving in to a new apartment.
  • PilotHandwriting – this site allows you to turn your handwriting into a font using your computer’s webcam. Download the letter template from the web site. Fill it in. Hold the template up in front of your webcam. Watch a demo.
  • Yet Another YouTube Script – unlike nearly every other predecessing YouTube userscripts that erratically worked or broke with site revisions, this userscript interfaces with the YouTube Player API to globally control autoplay and playback quality to stop the repeated web annoyance of YouTube autoplay. (It also lets you pick a lower or higher quality video as your default.)
