A longer trailer for the Half-Blood Prince has hit the interwebs, and this one is even darker than the shorter version. This film is about half a step from a Tim Burton film, which leaves me with seriously high hopes for the seventh installment.
The newest trailer for the upcoming Watchmen film has hit the web. It premiered as one of the previews played before Quantum of Solace.
The trailer itself is good enough to raise goosebumps. It honestly looks like this film might do the comic justice. But it’s also raised a bit of controversy.
In the voice over, the narrator says “The Watchmen are over” as if the name of the team of superheroes in the film were “The Watchmen,” but if that’s the case, it’s a deviation from the comic, in which the characters were split into two factions: the Minutemen and the Crimebusters.
Is this a classic case of the promotions department having no clue what the film they’re promoting is about? It would surprise me if it were, but purist around the web seem to be taking this slip up particularly hard. The matter is being debated across the blogosphere as well as in a number of forums.
Here it is, the trailer for Sam Raimi’s adaptation of Terry Goodkind’s The Sword of Truth series.
I’ve been waiting to see how this one turn outs. The fantasy genre has been very under-represented in television, and when it does turn up, its usually crap – Buffy exempt, of course. With the fantasy genre riding high at the box office, one highly-rated fantasy series could start a trend. At least, that’s what I’m hoping.
After watching the trailer, I’m even more hopeful. Not because the series it how I imagined it, but because it’s not going to be another Beast Master. And when it comes to television, that’s really the best you can hope for.
Personally, I’m praying this series pulls down Seinfeld-level ratings, encouraging other big screen directors to step up and make some television based on a few good series, like the Wheel of Time.

The first trailer for the sci-fi film Jumper has finally been released! I’ve been looking forward to seeing this film since the book it is based on was reviewed on The Dragon Page, one of my favorite podcasts. I read the book, and it was pretty good, though it looks as if the movie will, as with most Hollywood productions, be nothing like its progenitor. The book tells the story of a boy, Davey, who escape an abusive father by spontaneous developing a super-power – the ability to teleport instantly anywhere. Most of the book is occupied by Davey’s exploration of the extent and rules of his ability, but the movie seems far more action-packed.
The movie is is directed by Doug Liman (Go, The Bourne Identity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith) and it stars Samuel Jackson, in his first appearance since Snakes on a Plane. If the trailer is any true indicator, it is seriously going to rock!

The trailer for the highly anticipated third installment of Pirates of The Caribbean trilogy is finally online. Picking up where Dead Man’s Chest ended, Will, Elizabeth and crew set sail under the command of Captain Barbossa to the end of the world to save Jack Sparrow’s life, only to have to fight a battle of survival pitting pirates from the four corners of the globe against the East India Trading Company, which has allied with the sinister Davy Jones.
