H.P. Lovecraft's Magazine of Horror

  • Cinema Blend has posted an early review of JJ Abrams’ Star Trek, and it’s overwhelmingly positive.
  • Den of Geek lists the Top 25 fictional Ads in Sci-fi Movies.

Gaming

  • Wil Wheaton has posted an nostalgic series documenting his experience acting as a Dungeon Master for his son Nolan and his friends. Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV, and Wil’s final thoughts.

Internet

  • Greg Bear, the Hugo and Nebula award-winning author, is answering user-submitted questions at scifi.reddit… unfortunately, so far, there aren’t many worth answering.
  • The website of the new Star Trek movie has posted a 3D Gallery of various Artists’ interpretations of the Enterprise.

Literature

  • Free Fiction: Listen to “Article of Faith” by Mike Resnick by Escape Pod.
  • Free Fiction: Listen to the classic “Rattle of Bones” by Robert E. Howard at The Cthulhu Podcast.
  • Free Fiction: Read “From Babel’s Fall’n Glory We Fled” by Michael Swanwick at Asimov’s magazine.

  • Black Gate Magazine is now available for sale as a PDF download for $4.95.

  • Full Metal Alchemist is getting a new start with the upcoming series Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, which is a real relief as I was running out of decent anime series to follow.

Writing

  • Author Ann Aguirre gives a tongue-in-cheek explanation of the Top 10 Reasons to Write Urban Fantasy. My favorite: “it’s fantasy, now with even more explosions!”
  • Kristine Kathryn Rusch has launched a new series called The Freelancer’s Survival Guide. The first installment discusses The Freelancer’s Survival Guide: Priorities“>Priorities.
  • The Swivet reflects on What Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse can teach novelists about hooking readers.
