Comics
- AskMen.com tries to impress the geeks with “5 Things You Didn’t Know: Wolverine,” but fails utterly. I knew all these fact and at least ten more than would have made better factoids.
- MSNBC counts off 9 comic book characters to watch in 2009. Batman and Wolverine get the nod, as usual. But, surprisingly, Power Girl and the Scarlet Witch made the cut, too. Personally, I thought the pair were played out.
- The Twelve best Tech Webcomics of 2008, as chosen by Wired.
Film
- Dvice ticks off its picks for the 8 most absurd devices from sci-fi movies, showing amazing restraint in not choosing twenty or fifty. I was pleased to see the Syncord at number one but was the AT-AT seriously the most absurd device in the Star Wars Universe? Seriously?
- Some people are still holding a grudge, it seems. Geeks of Doom reviews the top 13 WTF Moments from The Day the Earth Stood Still.
Internet
- Lake Superior State University has once again issued its annual Banished Words List. The word “Green” and “Bailout” are predictably highlighted.
- Wired picks the 10 Most Awesome iPhone Apps of 2008.
Literature
- In honor of the 29th anniversary of GPS, Jinni takes a look at Films that would have been different with GPS.
Television
- Watch the complete 1967 television series Prisoner online at AMCtv.com. Meanwhile, number two will be watching you watching Prisoner.
Video Games
- The Examiner names 20 video games to look forward to in 2009.
- The top ten PC games and consoles of 2008 according to Nielsen ratings.
