Art
- Gizmodo just concluded a Photoshop contest in which contestants were invited to submit Ways to Hilariously Ruin the Watchmen Movie. My favorite is the shot with Jar Jar. I don’t know which I enjoy more: the idea of Jar Jar dying or the way every new hit film dredges up the old bitterness.
- Help the Smithsonian choose the recipients of the People’s Choice Award by voting for your favorite of the Top 50 Photos of 2008.
Comics
- io9 selects 9 Comics to Follow Watchmen, explaining which comics you might want to read, depending on what aspects of Watchmen you enjoyed the most. My favorite part is when they recommend DC: The New Frontier. *LOL*
Film
- Film School Rejects takes a balanced approach to reviewing Watchmen in Watchmen: 10 Things I Liked, 5 I Didn’t.
- I honestly don’t know if this is for real or not, but the Torontoist has posted images of a newspaper ad for the upcoming film OneWeek that features promotional quotes from… YouTube.
- Popular Mechanics goes behind the scenes to take a look at The Making of Watchmen’s Dr. Manhattan.
- Premiere looks at 10 Movies That Would Be Better With An R-rating.
Internet
- Over at Short of the Week, you can watch The Mysterious Explorations of Jasper Morello, a short, animated Victorian science fiction film with a distinctive steampunk style.
Literature
- Free Fiction: Listen to “This Crowded Earth” by Robert Bloch at Librivox.
- Free Fiction: Read “The History of the Internet” by Charlie Anders at Flurb Magazine.
- Free Fiction: Read “Three Fancies from the Infernal Garden” by C S E Cooney at Subterranean Online.
- Should there be Statute of Limitations on Spoilers? It’s an intriguing question. I mean how long do you really need to hold in public discuss of your favorite plot twists?
Television
- If you haven’t been watching The IT Crowd, you should be. The show, though skewing towards British humor, is hilarious, especially if you’re a nerd.
- NBC plans to bring back “Heroes” for another season, though “why” is anyone’s guess. I think we can all agree that, somewhere, there’s a room full of chimps hurling darts at a cork board making all the programming decisions for the affiliates.
- Watch the Japanese Spider-Man TV series online at Marvel.com.
Video Games
- According to the Guardian, MMORPG Gold Farming is still big business.
