  • Free Fiction: “The Brazen Android” by William Douglas O’Connor, is a 19th century science fiction tale based on the myth of the Brazen Head, a steam-powered head that told fortunes. Read the book at Google Books, or listen to the book at the Internet Archives.

Television

  • For the true TV addicts out there, Entertainment Weekly has an update on Fall’s Television Line-Up. The good news at the moment is that newcommers Castle and Better Off Tedd will be back. The sad news is that Kings, Pushing Daisies, and Reaper are canceled, which is too bad, because they were watchable, if uninspiring, programming.
  • Fox execs explain why they kept Dollhouse and killed Sarah Connor.
  • I don’t think there will ever be a definitive list of hte 10 Sexiest Women of Star Trek, but BuyCostumes.com takes a stab at it.

Writing

  • Writers Should Not Blog About Writing says writer Jeremiah Tolbert on his blog.

    Any Reaper fans? Although the CW is not picking up Reaper, we not giving up yet. ABC Studios is still trying to move the show into syndication or cable. We’re advocating all Reaper fans to write their CW affiliates. All links and info here: http://community.livejournal.com/reaperdmv/44208.html And don’t forget to contact ABC Studios and thank them for not giving up on Reaper.
