Hacker Magazines

I think that at some point, all self-proclaimed computer geeks expiriment with “hacking” at some point. Thus, most of you will have already heard of “2600: The Hacker Quarterly” founded and edited by Emmanuel Goldstein. It’s the most popular and prominent “underground” (I am using that term very loosely) hacker magazine out there today. But you may not realize that it’s not the only periodical following the hacking scene by a long-shot.

Magazines in Print

  • 2600 – Off The Wall and Off the Hook, two New York talk radio shows
  • Blacklisted 411 – Very technical & a lot of hardware projects…
  • BinaryRevolution
  • Dig – Deals with Technology, Art, & science. Available online as well.
  • Infiltration -A zine about going places you’re not supposed to go, a paper publication devoted to the art of urban exploration.
  • MakeZine – If you like to tweak, disassemble, re-create, and invent cool new uses for technology, you’ll love MAKE our new quarterly publication for the inquisitive do-it-yourselfer.
  • Radical Future – Provides pdf’s of the magazine…

E-Zines

  • Phrack – The classic Hacker Zine. “Since 1985, PHRACK MAGAZINE has been providing the hacker community with information on operating systems, network technologies and telephony, as well as relaying features of interest for the international computer underground.”
  • Phreakazoid – Another “might be dead” phreaking zine
  • Telecomunists – Another Phonelosers related phreak zine
  • UPL – Phonelosers.org’s phreak & prank zine
