This weekend someone pointed out that there was a misspelling in last Thursday’s posting “A Traditional D&D Thanksgiving,” in number eight: When someone finally does choke from laughing with food in his mouth, the party insists the Cleric be the one to perform the heimlick maneuver.
Evidently, the correct spelling is “Heimlich.”
Heimlich, sure. Do you have any idea how nervous the party gets you start throwing around phrases that end in Lich? Archlich, Artifex Lich, Darkelich, Dirge Lich, Drowlich, Frostlich, Mors Lich, Prime Lich, SonofaLich, Umbral Lich, Werelich …
You shout something like Heimlich in the middle of a meal and the guy’s sure to die choking while the DM is looking up the stats for Heims and the rest of the players are tying the Halfling to a pole in preparation for standard distraction maneuvers.
No, no. If you want medical treatment, it’s best to stick to “Heimlick.” The Barbarian may get overly excited when it involves a female cleric, but that’s just the price you pay for allowing a character to start with INT2 in his stats.
