Lego Spaceship

Lego Cylon Raider

Ahhh… Legos, bane of my paycheck. I don’t think I’ll ever outgrow these things. The other day I was in a Toy R’ Us with my brother, killing time before a showtime at the local movie theater when the truth hit me. Legos are the reason that I will never be rich. If another man accumulated a few hundred extra dollars, he’d put it into a savings account. If he were a smart man, he’d put it into stocks and bonds. But me, I’d run out and by some gigantic Lego set, then spend money I didn’t have preserving and storing the completed result after it was assembled. *Sigh* Sometimes I wish I had spent more time as a boy learning to play sports.

I’m especially fond of building space ships and space stations… mainly so that I can stage space battle in the dark with flashlights and laser pointers … So imagine my excitement when I hit the jackpot at Brickshelf. The two pictured above are the most impressive, and they were recently featured on Retard Media.

    Hi,
I loved your article and pictures.

I sell legos on ebay and was hoping to get your permission to post a copy of any/all lego pictures on my about me page (with your name of course and link to this site).

Sound like a win-win? Thanks in advance!

I think you will find it rather ironic that legos have maintained their value much better than those stocks and bonds you are talking about. Take a look on Ebay, and you will see tubs of unsorted bricks going for several hundred dollars. Boxed Licensed sets have gone up in value SIGNIFICANTLY, many of them going for double their original value, and in the case of some rare Harry Potter and Batman sets more than triple the value. Who do you know who’s gotten that kind of ROI out of stocks and bonds in recent years?
