Basilisk: The Complete Series [Blu-ray]
A Japanese Romeo and Juliet, torn between two bad-ass clans of waring ninja clans. Very good, very fast-paced anime series worth seeing.
G-Force
Jerry Bruckheimer, the guy behind a whole lotta films where people get blown up, presents an animated caper film featuring guinea pigs gone wild! With an all-star voice cast and all the cute you can handle, it’s one of the best animated genre spoofs ever.
Inglourious Basterds
Quentin Tarantino rewrites history in what may be his best film yet. Tarantino’s films always reward multiple viewings and this is the ultimate “guy movie,” making this a must-have for your collection.
Robot Chicken: Season Four
Take the stop-motion animated toy action of Kablam! and the pell-mell-paced gag barrage of, say, Laugh-In and you’ve got the fast and furiously funny Robot Chicken, the heart of Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim late-night lineup.
Samurai Champloo: The Complete Series [Blu-ray]
Shinichiro Watanabe’s film noir-ish sci-fi adventure Cowboy Bebop set a new standard for cool in anime in 1998, and Samurai Champloo, an edgy mix of Edo-era martial arts and hip-hop irreverence, is a worthy follow-up.
Star Trek: The Original Series – Season 3 [Blu-ray]
Is sixty bucks a fair price to see a season of a show that’s always running on television? Depends on how hardcore a Trekkie fan you are.
Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie
I watched a clip of this, and I couldn’t turn it off fast enough. But I guess this stuff is like catnip to tweens, and they are the geeks of tomorrow… much as you may want to strangle them today.

Theatrical Releases
Gee, what comes out this week? Unless you’ve been living in a cave with Osama bin Laden, you probably know that this is the week Hollywood finally releases the twenty minutes of Avatar (PG-13) that didn’t make it into one of the film’s trailers or featurettes. I’m not so certain how good this The Last of the Mohicans / Dances with Wolves rip-off will be, but there’s no doubt that audiences will line up around the block to see it.
