The Brothers Bloom
After more than three months it’s finally available! This jaunty con man caper starring Adrian Brody, Mark Ruffalo, Rinko Kikuchi, and Rachel Weisz star is a warm-hearted take on the genre.
Moon
Duncan Jones’ directorial debut is old school science fiction at its best. Free of gimmicks and eye candy, Sam Rockwell’s performance is highly reminiscent of 2001: A Space Odyssey. It was hard to catch in theaters, so this will be most people’s first chance to catch it.
Naruto: Shippuden, Vol. 5
Though some fans are grumbling over deviations between the series and the manga, Naruto continues to be one of the most popular series on either side of the ocean and for good reason. Naruto’s particular flavor of samurai action, comedy, and fantasy makes for some great variations on the whole orphan discovers his inner magic motif. It should be noted that the series’ rampant fan sub community make Shippuden one of the most readily downloadable series on the net.
Robin Hood: Season Three
This is fun series, but I’m not sure I’d pay money to watch it. In this series, Robin Hood fights for justice against outrageous odds and never once kills anyone… to the audience’s continual irritation. It just too closely resembles Beast Master for good taste.
The Simpsons: The Complete Twentieth Season
The latest season of the longest-running animated series on television finally hits shelves. Though it is everyone’s favorite cartoon, the series has begun to grow a little stale and the series has traditionally offered some fairly weak extras with its DVD releases.
In Theaters
The Book of Eli (R) and The Lovely Bones (PG-13) hit theaters this weekend, all but guaranteeing crowded theaters.
