I’ve been pushing the AllOfMP3 music store for years now. It was a shady ecommerce site where you could buy tracks of just about any album you could think of for a penny or two. Was it legal? Well, it wasn’t illegal until the US decided to put massive pressure on Russia over the course of several years to reform its copyright laws. Now, it’s been shut down for good. The good news is that the same company that has been flagrantly flouting US copyright dictates for years didn’t place all of its eggs in one basket and Russia is still rife with cheap music sources.
If you’re looking for really cheap tunes but you still can’t work up the courage to use bittorrent or your ISP has decided to filter your traffic, don’t panic! Here’s a list of ten great AllOfMP3 alternatives:
1. GoMusic.ru Tracks: 19¢ Albums: $2.18 Available: 36,000 tracks
2. Iomoio Tracks: 15¢ Albums $1.83 Available: albums
3. iSound Tracks: 15¢ Albums: $2.20 Available: 60,000 albums
4. LegalSounds.com Tracks: 09¢ Albums: $1.02 Available: albums
5. JustMusicStore Tracks: 11¢ Albums: $1.80 Available: 160,000 albums
6. MP3City.com.ua Tracks: 20¢ Albums: $1.80 Available: albums
7. MP3Fiesta Tracks: 10¢ Albums: $1.02 Available: 67,000 albums
8. MP3Ninja Tracks: 37¢ Albums: $3.80
9. MP3Sale.ru Tracks: 15¢ Album: $2.18 Available: 90,000 albums
10. MP3Search.ru Tracks: 19¢ Album: $2.18 Available: 41,000 albums
11. Mp3Skyline.com Tracks: 35¢ Albums: $2.80 Available: 2.2 million tracks
12. MP3Spy Available: 9,000 albums
13. MP3Stor Tracks: 17¢ Albums: $2.24 Available: 76,000 tracks
14. MP3Sugar.com Tracks: 18¢ Albums: $2.15 Available: 50,000 albums
15. MusicMP3.ru Tracks: 12¢
Opinions as to whether or not these sites are fully legal varies from expert to expert, so beware the consequences of your actions. Most, if not all of these sites require a minimum deposit to download tracks. None of them put DRM protection on the tracks they sell. All of them accept credit cards directly or via Paypal. Enjoy!

I’ve had good experiences with goldenmp3.ru, mp3ninja.com, and legalsounds.com. My new favorite is the perhaps-ironically-named legalsounds.com, since their selection is great as are their prices, and their downloader is very handy–reminds me of the allofmp3.com downloader.
But AVOID mp3sugar.com–those scumbags charged me $35 and DID NOT CREDIT MY ACCOUNT. And they nicely ignored (with fake bounce messages) every email I sent them. ChronoPay.com, who mp3sugar.com uses for payments, was no better–their “online chat” was useless, their US-based 800 number “worked” but no one ever came on the line to help me, and they also ignored all of my email messages.
